Herdwick Barns
Eight barn conversions and a renovated Victorian farmhouse around a farm courtyard, a stone’s throw from Askham.

Herdwick Barns began as a collection of farm buildings beside an old Victorian farmhouse — eight barn conversions and a farmhouse renovation, hugging the outside of a courtyard.

The internal features were amazing — the old wrought-iron and oak trusses were structurally sound, and we kept them at the heart of every home.

Of the two Dutch barns on site, one was beyond saving — the other became a very contemporary one-off Dutch barn home, and the farmhouse itself was renovated to a high standard.

Stone, metal and old agricultural features, juxtaposed with contemporary design — on the cusp of the Lake District National Park, a stone’s throw from the idyllic village of Askham.
