Swallows Rise
A one-off collection in natural buff sandstone, looking south-west down the Ullswater valley and across the Lakeland fells.
Swallows Rise sits on the edge of Sockbridge and Tirril, on the border of the Lake District National Park. Most of the site faces south-west, looking down the Ullswater valley — some of the sunsets from here are jaw-dropping.
When we dug the ground it gave up limestone and red, purple and yellow sandstone — so we clad the entire development in 100% natural buff sandstone. The location deserved the timeless charm of stone buildings.
The primary dwellings carry high ceilings, coving and a Georgian feel for that grand kerb-side appeal — while inside, the homes are thoroughly modern, with open glass outlooks over the fells.
Grey-green slate, anthracite aluminium doors and windows — right down to the wrought-iron and copper streetlights by the children’s play area. A truly bespoke, one-off development.
